The 2018 Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle (ROKCC) Application Process

The ROKCC support local initiatives and help groups to generate awareness of their cause while fast tracking completion of projects to realise their ambitions, along with ensuring continued service delivery to users and their families. Your submission should outline your proposed project/service and why it will make a difference to be part of this iconic event.

The funds raised through the ROKCC support a wide range of initiatives which aim to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and/or communities.

There are 3 Types of Applications:
1. Main Beneficiary
2. Beneficiary (Tier 2)
3. Community Beneficiary (Tier 3)

Submission Deadline:
No later than 5.00pm on Friday 5th of January 2018

Application Criteria

Main Beneficiary Applications must be:

  • From a not-for-profit organisation/registered charity only
  • Have a significant requirement for funding to support a capital
    investment/development project or service

Your charity must also demonstrate that they can meet the following criteria (if selected):

  • Provide Volunteer personnel to support the 2018 event across Medical,
    Stewards, Food Stations, Sweeps, Admin, Cycle Marshals (typically 100 people)
  • Provide a dedicated admin resource to support with activities and attend
    meetings on a monthly basis
  • Set-up a dedicated Steering Group to ensure deliverables are planned and achieved

Note: The ROKCC selection Committee may recommend to the Board that some applications from this category be considered for Tier 2 category funding. This is subject to the markings given during selection and evaluation stage.

Beneficiary Category Tier 2

Your charity can apply for Beneficiary Category (Tier 2) based on the following criteria:

  • Your organization/charity a not-for-profit organisation/registered charity
  • You have a project/service that requires funding exceeding Tier 3 max amount.
  • In previous years a maximum amount of €10,000 has allocated to Charities in this category.

Your charity must also demonstrate that they can meet the following criteria (if selected):

  • Provide Volunteer personnel to support the 2018 event across Medical,
    Stewards, Food Stations, Sweeps, Admin, Cycle Marshals (typically 20 people)
  • Provide an admin resource to support with activities and attend
    meetings with ROKCC as required.

Community Beneficiary Category Tier 3

If your charity does not meet the above criteria. We would welcome your application as a Tier 3, Community Beneficiary category.

  • In order to be eligible for this category, you must be a registered charity.
  • This fund is allocated to smaller community based services. A maximum amount of €2,000 can allocated per charity following Selection Committee review and Board approval.
  • Provide Volunteer personnel to support the 2018 event, where possible.

The application process

1. Review Criteria & Determine Your Application Type
Review the Application Criteria on the website, Review Main Beneficiary Guidelines and application forms for other categories. Determine which best suits your charity.

2. Compile and Complete Your Application
Compile and complete your application – as per the requirements per category. Download the relevant documents.

  • If applying as a Main Beneficiary compile your application submission as per the guidelines set out.
  • If applying as a Beneficiary (Tier 2) complete the BCT2001 Community Beneficiary Category Form.
  • If applying as a Beneficiary (Tier 2) or a Tier 3 Beneficiary complete the CBCT3001 Community Beneficiary Category Form.

3. Send in your application
You can submit your application on or before Friday 5th of January.

4. Applications are reviewed by ROKCC Selection & Evaluation Committee
Remember your proposal must comply with guidelines and instructions provided.

5. Shortlisting
If you apply as a Main Beneficiary, the ROKCC Office will be in contact with you regarding a phase 2 meeting/interview with the Committee.

6. Charities Announced
ROKCC will contact all successful and unsuccessful applicants to provide feedback of the Committee decision. Successful applicants will have to sign an agreement with the ROKCC, outlining roles and responsibilities of the charity.

7. Press Launch
ROKCC will organise a photocall and media announcement. If selected as a Main Beneficiary, you will be required to have a representative attend this event.
