ST JOSEPH'S HOME
'With your generosity and support, we can reach our goal to build six additional rooms for older people in need by the end of 2018.'
St Joseph's Residential Home for the elderly has been managed and run by the Sisters of St Joseph of Annecy since 1971. Our mission is to provide the best possible health and welfare care to the elderly in mid and south west Kerry. Our Home is dedicated to developing and improving the quality of life of all its Residents based on a profound respect for human life irrespective of race, creed or gender.
With existing capacity of 40 beds including a dedicated Hospice room, our current project involves the construction of 6 twin bed ensuite rooms and the total reconfiguration of the original Nursing Home building. With an ageing demographic, the areas serviced by St Joseph's Home may be coping with as many as 40 extra beds by end 2018.
Help us continue to make a life-changing difference for people in need this year. Funds raised will help towards:
- Construction of 6 additional rooms for older people in our Home.
- Help sustain our services and to accommodate 46 residents at completion of our current building project.
"I have been resident here in St Joseph’s Home since 21st November 2017, as has my wife Eta. I must say that since our arrival we got a warm welcome from the Sisters of St Joseph’s and from the staff. This has enabled us to settle in very quickly in a homely atmosphere, where all our needs have been attended to, including our spiritual needs with daily Mass. Eta has special medical needs and they are well attended to also.
It is something to behold the way each resident, with their own various needs, is loved. Our Lord has said as long as you did this to the least of my brethren you did it to me.
I appreciate as well the freedom I have to visit my former much loved home, and indeed have been encouraged to do so. The absence of regimentation must be mentioned as well, allowing each to find his/her own level. I must mention as well the security afforded each of us, knowing that if any unforeseen needs occur there will be somebody to look after them.
St Joseph’s Home is a haven of mercy, and we are fortunate to have it. God bless the work."
