AUTISM ASSISTANCE DOGS IRELAND

Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland works with communities across Ireland to transform the lives of children with autism by providing specially trained service dogs that help keep children with autism safe, enabling the entire family the freedom and independence they need. Since 2010, we have provided Autism Assistance Dogs to families who need us, without charging our families for this life-changing service.

These dogs are more than just friends. They are trained to keep their child companion safe, listening and responding to the commands of the parent or handler. Their primary focus is to prevent the child from running into danger when they are out and about. As the partnership between the child and assistance dog develops, these special dogs can reduce anxiety and stress not just for the child but for the whole family.

Operating to the highest standards, we became the first Autism Assistance Dog Training Programme in Ireland to be accredited by Assistance Dogs International in 2017. As an organisation, we are also committed to using our collective expertise to raise autism awareness, understanding and inclusion within the community.

Our involvement with ROKCC 2024 will provide a substantial boost to our mission, enabling us to train an increased number of our superhero assistance dogs. It will also act as a platform to raise awareness about AADI and the crucial work we do. Participation in next year’s event is a chance for us to grow, evolve, and continue making a difference in the lives of children with autism and their families.
