Brú Columbanus

Providing home from home accommodation for families of seriously ill patients in Cork hospitals. Funds raised through the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle will help us ensure that more families can stay close to their loved ones during difficult times.

Text to be used on their own Charity Page please: This year, Brú Columbanus is honoured to be a main beneficiary once again of the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle – and your support will make a real difference to families facing some of the hardest days of their lives.

When a loved one is seriously ill in hospital, families should not have to worry about where they will sleep, how far they have to travel, or how they will cope from one day to the next. At Brú Columbanus, we provide free accommodation for families of patients in Cork hospitals, giving them a safe, warm, and welcoming place to stay close to the person who needs them most.

Every year, we support almost 700 families in our 26-bedroom house in Wilton — families arriving tired, anxious, and overwhelmed, often at very short notice. What we offer is more than a bed for the night. We offer comfort, kindness, understanding, and a true home from
home during an incredibly difficult time.

With the help of supporters and fundraisers, including the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle, we were able to purchase Curraheen House in 2024, adding a further 5 bedrooms for families in need. But demand continues to grow, and we now need your help again to expand this vital
service even further.

The funds raised through this year’s Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle will help us develop and expand Curraheen House, so that more families can stay close, rest, and find support while their loved one receives treatment.

By taking part, donating, or supporting a cyclist, you are helping to lift one small but heavy burden from a family in crisis. You are helping parents stay near their child, husbands stay near their wives, daughters stay near their mothers.

Please support Brú Columbanus this year. Together, we can keep families close when it matters most.
